Decca Records are celebrating their rich history with two exciting and highly desirable new additions to the DECCA 7-INCH SINGLES CLUB, recreating two rare four song E.P.s (Extended Play) from the Sixties Mod era, complete with their original B-Sides.

The erratic early career of London-born singer Chris Farlowe saw him release one solo single on Decca ('Air Travel, F. 11536, November 1962), followed by the January 1964 single 'Blue Beat' with The Beazers - both were popular with the club going Mod fraternity but failed to reach a wider market. With a new band The Thunderbirds, Chris then moved to the Columbia label where five more singles suffered a similar fate.

Another move, this time to Andrew Loog Oldham's fledgling Immediate label, finally gave him the success his talent deserved, with four UK Top 40 hits including the July 1966 No. 1 'Out Of Time'. At this point Decca reissued 'Air Travel' as a four-song E.P., adding two previously unreleased recordings, and providing the inspiration for this latest addition to the Decca 7-inch Singles Club.

When the hits dried up, yet another shift saw Chris front Jazz Rock group Colosseum, followed by a spell as singer with Rock group Atomic Rooster.

While these frequent changes made it hard for fans to pin him down, Chris remained respected by his peers, and he worked with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, and with Van Morrison. Meanwhile his early singles are still popular with fans of good music, which explains why original copies of 'Air Travel' now sell for more than £100.
